Extradition to Chile is possible even though there is no extradition treaty. We expect that the suspicion of guilt will be reviewed in extradition proceedings. The Higher Regional Court of Cologne already dealt with an extradition request from Chile in 2005; more recently since 2010 there have been one or two annual extradition requests from Chile in Germany.

Ongoing issues related to extradition requests from Chile are ill-treatment and torture and disastrous conditions of detention.
